I just downloaded firefox 3.6 on my ibook g4 at home. I set up a sync account on a pc at work. I have a sync key from work. When I go to preferences on my mac there is no sync icon

Sorry, Sync is not built into Firefox 3.6, as in the 4.0+ versions. There was a Sync add-on available for Firefox 3.6, but as of the beginning of this year it was discontinued and pulled from the Add-ons website.
