Firefox hijacks my FTP connection.

more options

I started using an FTP server. I can access it through Windows Explore. However when I click on a word document on the server FireFox wants to open it in a new tab and download it. Then when I want to save it, Word acts like it was downloaded and asks me to enter my username and password when I try to save it on the FTP server.

What command is required to make Firefox allow Windows Explore to access FTP servers?

Windows Explorer might have been designed on the assumption that your default browser is Internet Explorer. If you aren't interested in a dedicated FTP client (such as the FireFTP add-on or a free program such as FileZilla), you could try making IE your default browser temporarily and see whether that solves the problem.
