After upgrading to FF 12 beta, a blank page is displayed instead of the home page and the bookmarks toolbar is missing.

When I go to View -> Toolbars -> and deselect Bookmarks Toolbar, and then again View -> Toolbars -> select Bookmarks Toolbar, the bookmarks appear. Also, when starting up, a blank page instead of my homepage is shown. (Options -> General -> Show Homepage is selected)

Hi Spynx,

You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article How to set the home page. There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.

If that doesn't work you should look at the article How to fix preferences that won't save. I'd imagine that if your selection for showing the bookmarks toolbar isn't persistent then Firefox is probably having trouble writing to the pref.js file.

Hopefully this helps!

I've downgraded to FF 11 and everything is working like it should. Maybe there is some bug in 12.

Try:

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I had the same problem. It appears there is something within your profile (extensions or settings) that may be causing the problem.

First, go to http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/download.php http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/download.php to download Mozbackup. If you have any issues downloading, use another browser. First back up your entire profile. I recommend using the default name.

Now we are going to make another backup, with only the basics. BE SURE NOT TO OVERWRITE THE FIRST BACKUP YOU CREATED FROM ABOVE! Name this new one something like basic.pcv This time only check the items below.

- Bookmarks
- Saved Passwords
- Saved form details
- History (Optional)

Follow the instructions for removing your current Firefox profile found here. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_removing-a-profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles?redirectlocale=en-US&redirectslug=Managing-profiles#w_removing-a-profile

Then create a new profile and exit the profile manager.

Open Mozbackup. Now restore the basic.pcv file you created earlier.

Visit your problem pages and see if they are working. Reinstall your extensions and themes.

If it did not work, restore your full backup and best of luck finding a solution. Please post your solution for the benefit of others.
