The URL does not show in my main toolbar. It does show in the bookmark toolbar, but I prefer not to use it. How do I fix this problem?

In trying to get rid of Bing, I somehow lost the ability to see the URL in my main search field. I can see the urls in my bookmarks toolbar if I have selected a site from my bookmarks, but when I click my home-page button, the url for google, my home page, does not show up in either the main toolbar or the bookmark toolbar.

I did get rid of Bing, but I have not been able to fix the toolbar.

I reset keyword.url to see if it would fix the problem, but it did not.

Did you remove any files in the Firefox profile folder?

Do you still see the location bar?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
