FF 13: Why can't I open an existing link in new tab anymore?

This is such a simple but helpful feature. I only use it 150 times a day. I don't need some sort of Pinterest feature so I've disabed that. I have zero need to click on the + button in the tabs bar to get a blank page.

I've tried a lot of configurations and add ons and disabling add ons and it just doesn't work anymore. I can't find anything in Google to help me fix this other than allow me to set the new tab to a static page, which also doesn't help me at all.

I want to select a tab, then click on the plus icon in the tab bar and create a duplicate tab of that page.

Do I really have to go back to Firefox 12?

You can middle click or hold down Ctrl and left click the Reload button on the right end side of the location bar to duplicate the current tab.

I get a blank new tab when I do that. Actually I get Firefox's newest tab nonsense when I do that, but I had clicked the icon to show a blank page. When I right click in the middle of a page, I don't get the option any more to open in a new tab either.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Hmmm. I'm in safe mode now. All of my extensions are disabled. Still the same problem.

I switched to the default theme in FF - still no buenos dias.

You can try to reset Firefox.

Reset creates a new profile and tries to import some settings from the old profile leaving the old profile intact.

Wow. That absolutely did not work. I either have to switch to Safari or go back to FF12 which I should not have to do. This sucks.

The newtab page is overriding EVERYTHING.

Do you mean that you can't open any page in a tab?

Can you open any website?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I can open pages, but I can't replicate a page that is already open, which should be a very simple feature on Firefox, as it is on every other browser. I don't want to click on the plus symbol in the tab bar and get the newest tab grid, I don't want to set it to my homepage, and I certainly don't want to set it to a useless blank page.

I was able to do what I wanted before with an add-on called Open Link in New Tab but apparently FF 13 made that add on invalid when I upgraded.

I shouldn't have to go through all of this for such a simple feature, should I? I do appreciate all of your help, btw. Thank you.
