I rec'd a .MOV clip in my email. I must have selected some option that makes the sound from this clip start up when I open my Firefox browser. How can I get rid of this?

Hi,

You can try to check for any open tabs related to the movie clip and close them. You can also try to start typing .mov in the location (address) bar and if it's open, a Switch to tab would be shown. If the extension is different, or if the movie clip is embedded this may not work.

If the problem persists, you can also consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the Default User profile. While the Profile Manager is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be).

Thanks for the prompt response to my problem of a sound clip starting up when I open my Firefox browser.

I reset Firefox to "default" settings and it worked this time.

You're welcome :)

Note that a "Reset" creates a new profile and tries to import some settings from the old profile leaving the old profile intact, including the cache folder (about:cache) that can take up to 1 GB.
So you may want to remove no longer needed and used profiles.
