Why won't Firefox 12 update to the latest version?

I noticed when I was about to download an add-on it said it wasn't compatible with the version I am currently using, which is twelve. When I realized that 12 wasn't the latest version. Because I haven't gotten any messages telling me there was an update I tried to manually update Firefox by selecting "help" in the menu and clicking "About Firefox". Unfortunately for me it said 12 was the latest version. How do I update Firefox to the latest version (which i believe is 14.1) if this continues?

Download and install Firefox 14.0.1. No need to uninstall your current version, just install 14.0.1 over it.
