What is the cause of Firefox seizing up and having to use task manager to close down

When I use Firefox within 2 pages it seizes. When you try to click on anything I hear a ding with no response, even when you try to shut it down. You have to shut it down with Task manager. I have uninstalled it and reloaded but the same thing happens. When I use Explorer I have no troubles. I need Firefox as a site that I use only works with Firefox. This problem has occurred after the recent upgrade

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?
