After clicking on a link, why does it take so long to find the site - and sometime not find it at all?

This seemed to begin right after Firefox update several wks ago. It sometimes takes up to 2 min to find a site after I click on link (whether in an email or on another site). This has been happening at least 90% of the time since then. There have been a few times when it did NOT happen; those seemed to be earlier in the day (mid-morning on W Coast) and possibly for a couple of days after Firefox did another update a few wks after the previous one. Sometimes it does not find the site at all and I get the "Oops! Sorry" msg.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Thanks very much, but I'm afraid you're over my head. AFAIK, the only anti-virus I have is the free Avast and I don't find anything about permissions anywhere.

I've found a solution: use Internet Explorer. Perhaps an older version of Firefox might work, too.
