Ever since Firefox updated to 17.0.1, the flash and silverlight plugins just disappeared. I tried to clean installing the flash player, it did not work. I tried clean installing an earlier version of flash player, that did not work either. The plugin manager is less than useless as it says the plugin has been successfully installed yet I cannot use Netflix nor any flash video. I did all of the above once again with all plugins and addons disabled, and still nothing happened.

This is getting really frustrating and I am in fact contemplating moving to chrome after the string of crappy, forced updates mozilla has shoved down my throat... PLEASE HELP!

Alright, do these steps in this order (even if you already did one of these steps, just try again):

  1. Use http://ninite.com/firefox-flash-silverlight/ninite.exe to make sure Firefox, Flash and Silverlight are fully up to date. Ensure that Firefox is fully closed before you run this program. (It might be useful to download this, restart your computer, then run it)
  2. After Installing, restart your PC Again.
  3. Open Firefox, type about:addons into your address bar, press enter. Go to plugins. Do Flash or Silverlight show up there? You may need to enable them.
  4. If not, Reset Firefox. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

I am using Windows 7 64bit Ultimate and for some reason I had a problem that I have seen many people on here was having and was blaming Firefox's Plugin Container when watching Netflix or anything using Microsoft's Silverlight. But it isn't the Container that is causing the "Silverlight Plugin Has Crashed" problem. I just talked to Microsoft about it and found the solution on fixing it. The problem is the Computer Browser.

You go to "run", then type in "SERVICES.MSC" when that pops up scroll down to "Computer Browser" highlight it then in the left hand side at the top you will see "Restart the service". That's it. Restart computer...problem solved.
I have read so many posts about this with people coming up with all sorts of things to try to fix this, but none has worked....for me anyway.

So do this and I'm sure you'll be happy again.
