For some reason a certain corporate company web site will not load on my desktop PC. The page is gray and white with some headings and a circle in the middle that goes round and round. I previously (some months ago) was able to access the site (and have for years). I am running Windows 7. I have cleared my cache, reinstalled FireFox, reinstalled Adobe Flash Player (even tried downgrading to Flash version 10). If I use IE, the site page loads with all of the graphics, etc. just fine, I have all of the same FF features on my laptop. The site opens up fine on my laptop. What's next?

If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Is there content loaded on that page via JavaScript or a plugin like Flash?

If the Flash plugin is active the you should get the Flash context menu if you right-click that area.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Per cor-el reply: Flash is installed and up to date (according to my plug-ins). I right-clicked in the page area of the site and nothing happened. I started Firefox in safe mode, and the page loaded (Marriott.com). I am in the Firefox DEFAULT Theme. I am not getting any error message. Here is a screenshot of the page...also the plug-ins. Now what?

I have been trying again with this. The last time I tried there was a message that Flash Player had crashed. So again I reinstalled Flash Player. No help at all--problem still exists.

That missing part is created via JavaScript, so make sure that you do not block JavaScript.

Java Script is enabled. What about the advanced Java Script menu?

No--I don't even know what Adblock is. I get ads. One of the times I tried yesterday to access the site a message appeared that Flash had crashed. It is the only time I have received the message. So I tried reinstalling it. No luck, but it has to be a Flashed-associated problem???

I was able to access the site in Safe mode per your instructions.

OMG--it's a miracle, it's a miracle. Thank you so much. It was an add-on extension called "Invisible Hand." It's a comparison shopper. When you are shopping online, if a better price is on other sites, it the info pops up and appears below the toolbar. It has saved me money, but that's the way it goes.

Thank you, again.
