I'm using Windows 7 with Firefox 17.0.1 and FlashPlayer plug-in FlashPlayer_plugin_11_5_502_135.exe.

Pages all over the Web hang and fail to load when FlashPlayer plug-in is enabled. The browser doesn't crash; it just hangs indefinitely and all tabs and windows fail to respond to the mouse. Task Manager shows two processes running for FlashPlayer; one takes up about twice as much memory as the other. If I kill either process, BOTH die, and the page loads fine. Disabling the FlashPlayer plugin fixes the problem, but there's a lot of stuff requiring FlashPlayer that I want to see. Re-enabling the plug-in and killing the processes is faster than turning it on and off but I'd rather have it work like it used to.

Thank you for your help.

Also, the troubleshooting information the page asks me to paste generates the error message "Ensure this value has at most 30,000 characters (it has 37,466)" even though it's what you asked for. I deleted all the info for several printers in hopes of meeting your requirements, but it's weird to getting error messages for giving you exactly what you asked for.

Seeing two Flash processes is the consequence of running the Flash player in a protected sandbox environment.

Make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.

I'm sorry, but identifying and killing processes that are hanging in Task Manager is pretty much the limit of my technical abilities. I'm afraid that my efforts to write a really detailed description of the problem may have led y'all to think that I have much better technical skills than I actually do.

Sadly, I'm not a technical user at all; I'm just good at describing problems. So, while the fix clearly lies in those articles, I don't have the skills to figure out what the fix is or how to apply it.

If someone can give me the steps to fix this, I can follow directions accurately.

I apologize if I'm in the wrong forum, in which case I appreciate someone sending me to the appropriate help forum for my level of cluelessness.

Thanks...
