Why do 2 websites pop-up as one, i.e. PayPal on the left (narrow column) & Mozilla on the right, "glued together"

Ofter upon opening Mozilla, a narrow (3 to 4" column) website appears on the left side of screen. To the right of that, a wider screen appears. In this current case, a 3-4 inch wide column of PayPal appears. Right smack dab next to that on the right side is a full screened Mozilla. By continually clicking, I can make the narrow col (PayPal) appear over to the right side which is what I want. But I do not want the narrow column of PayPal to appear at all. I want it to go away. Where did this style come from? It is useless and annoying. Thank you for any help to solve this problem - much appreciated.

Bookmarks that open in the side bar (left side) is the default for bookmarks that are created via a link or button on a website to add a bookmark for that site.

  • Check the Properties of a bookmark via the right-click context menu in the side bar (Ctrl+B; Cmd+B on Mac).
  • In the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks) you can click the More button in the Details pane at the bottom right.
  • Make sure that "Load this bookmark in the side bar" is not selected (un-check it).

If both pages display when Firefox is first started, check your Home Page setting. Firefox can be set to open multiple Home Pages, using the keyboard character "|" to separate them.
