After a crush Firefox 18.0.2 opens 15 identical windows with identical tabs. Before the crush I had 5 different windows with different tabs. Scan found no viruses. Each one of the windows it opens has exactly the same identical tabs. When I click (close button in the upper right corner of the window) to close one window it doesn't ask me if I want to close all tabs AND when I click that window to close it simultaneously closes all 15 windows. Please help to resolve the problem as I put many hours and days in the research that resulted in those 5 windows that I cannot restore now. Full system virus scan found no viruses. Thank you. P.S. I am using Opera to post my question.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Thanks for your reply, but apparently you either did not take a close look at the problem details or replied with a standard universal Firefox advice which does not really help.

The quintessence of the issue is that if I don't find a way to restore those windows and tabs I'll have to re-do research that took me several days to almost complete.

The whole situation also makes me to once again think of reliability of the Firefox browser (let alone that it crashes every other day but at least after previous crashes I was able to restore those windows/tabs), and I am sure you are very well aware that there are lots of folks out there who has similar problems with the Firefox.

Should I interpret your reply as acceptance of the fact that the current situation is hopeless and I should not continue looking for a solution? Because what you suggested is basically to forget all those disappeared windows/tabs and to start from scratch.

If you still have some of the URL from those windows on some of the tabs then you can first bookmark them.
You can also check for recently closed tabs and windows, but you probably will have to delete the sessionstore.js to restore the behavior of session restore if closing those windows doesn't work properly.
You can also check the history to see if you can reconstruct the lost tabs.

If you have numbered sessionstore-##.js files then you can make a backup of them and try to rename them to sessionstore.js to see if that bring back your previous session.
