I disabled new tab page feature with these configs.

browser.newtabpage.enabled=false browser.pagethumbnails.capturing_disabled=true

But in profile folder, empty folder named thumbnails is created persistently. This means i couldn't completely disable newtab thumbnails. How to I completely get rid of that.

I don't think there is a way to prevent Firefox from creating an empty thumbnails folder in the current Firefox release.
I'm not seeing this folder in the current Firefox 20 beta release.
