the tab page was working fine until today. Now it only opens in an attempt to go to www,searchnu.com. But, since I deleted AVG it can't find the server.

So, how do i get rid of "searchnu" which my other virus detection software calls malware.

First of all you must remove searchnu toolbar that causes the redirections. You should:

  1. # Open Mozilla Firefox, go ‘Tools’ → ‘Add-ons’.
  2. # Choose ‘Extensions’ → ‘Searchnu’ Toolbar and click ‘Uninstall’.
  3. # Go ‘Tools’ → ‘Options’. Reset the startup homepage or change it to google.com instead of Searchnu under the ‘General’ tab.

After the toolbar is removed check if there is anything left in Control Panel Add and Remove Programs list. If you see searchnu there, uninstall.

Only when the toolbar and all the files related to it are eliminated, you may reset your home page.

If the problem persists you may wish to use antimalware tools for searchnu removal.
