Hi, thanks for the help - apparently my issue was my security settings - it first said you can't download the file - then it downloaded it but must have changed the name of the file. to download as an .exe the setting:

launching applications and unsafe files must be set to enable - even though you get multiple panels popping up telling you not to do that.

i enabled it - downloaded the file and disabled it again.

What was the download link you used? I just accessed it from this page: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#desktop

And the download link pointed to here:

http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/20.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2020.0.exe

It looks like this URL works alright, saves as a .exe as expected.

If you can, right-click the file in your download list and select "Copy Download Link" to see where your download came from.
