The Update tab in the Advanced settings only shows the text 'Automatically update:' and a check box for 'Search engines'. It doesn't show any options regarding Firefox updates.

I realized this because Firefox wouldn't update automatically as usual, and I was looking for the way of doing it manually. I ended up doint it with the apt-get command on a terminal.

hello, in ubuntu the firefox updates are entirely handled by the packet manager of the operating system (so there are no options to update the program itself in firefox).

Additional information:

Many Linux distros, including Ubuntu, "build" their own version of Firefox and change key settings in their build of Firefox to use their own "Package Manager" servers. As philipp mentioned, the prefs are gone from the Firefox Advanced dialog - because Ubuntu handles their own Firefox updates and use their own preference settings in the operating system for all installed programs that were installed by default or installed thru the Package Manager.
