The page says things like:

Edit Settings

Watch forum threads I start:
Watch forum threads I comment in:
Watch KB discussion threads I start:
Watch KB discussion threads I comment in:
Watch Question threads I comment in:
Send emails for private messages:

(Oh, and I can't break up the above to separate lines? I separated them with a line break but see the result. How does it help users to articulate their questions and comments?)

But a simple user can have no idea what do you mean by 'watch'. Other sites are more clear about their settings. For example I want to accomplish to have alerts about everything but only when I log into this site but not any e-mail notification.

What should my settings look like? Thank you.

Watch means that you will be notified via email when one of the selected watch events occur.
These set the default action that you can always override via the sidebar menu of a forum or discussion thread.
