I have this problem to add my device at Firefox sync. I had sync registerd on this computer, but i didn't have the possibility to add any other devices before my harddrive had a disk failure. When i then got a new harddrive installed i don't have any possibility to generate any recovery keys or the add device options. Please help.

Without your Recovery Key and not having a 2nd device on that account your data can't be recovered from the Sync server.

When you generate a new Recovery Key the account data is wiped from the Sync Server.

"Pairing" needs two devices, one that is already connected to Sync and the device that you want too connect.

For one device on that account you all need 3 authentication 'keys' - username/email address for the account, password, and the Recovery Key / Sync Key.

I know this, but i already have an account. But as for the moment; no devices are connected to this account.

How can i connect any devices to this account, then?

Do you have the 3 authentication 'keys'?
1. username/email address for the account
2. password
3. and the Recovery Key / Sync Key.

If so, use the I don't have the device with me link in the Pairing a Device dialog window that you get after hitting I have an account button in the Firefox Sync Setup window.

That's the problem. I just got the Username and Password, but not any recovery key or sync key. As I have understood, you actually need one device connected at this account to get a recovery key or sync key to connect a "new" device. But what is the solution when you currently don't have ANY devices connected to your sync account?

Is all the information/data, that i have selected to sync, been uploaded to the Firefox Sync "cloud"? or is it just "stored" on the "main" device you have sync connection on and all other devices paired will download from the "main" device?

Try to delete the current Sync account and start anew.

Yes, i know how to delete the account.

This is for the developers: Why isn't there any recovery key generator or sync key generator on the web profile (https://account.services.mozilla.com/)? Should this be considered to do something about?

It really sucks that i lose all my sync data because of this.

Sorry, but Sync isn't a "cloud" service. It is intended for synchronizing Firefox personal data across multiple devices.

That Recovery Key was used to encrypt your data as it was being uploaded. That key isn't uploaded with your data, only you have (or had) that key, as a privacy feature.

please listen and read carefully. there is no recovery key option. period...end of discussion. why is that? specifically, since there is no recovery key option, how can i get my recovery key. i would love to sync between my desktop and my andriod device. but at this point, this is not possible. mark
