Can't find way to install Firefox Synch on FF Version 26.0 - help !

more options

I was previously using Xmarks to save bookmarks across machines. It sounds like it is now longer supported by Firefox...anyone know if that is true.

I see both "lastpass"....which seems to be associated with Xmarks and "Firefox Sync."

I decided to go with Firefox Sync, but to install the Firefox sync add on, based on the knowledge base instructions, I am supposed to to go : Tools > Firefox Sync... then set up the account.

However, when I try this on the desktop I want to synch from, I see : Downloads > Add ons > Sync Now.... there is no option to "Set Up Sync"..

1. Do I need to first delete my Xmarks account ? If yes, anyone know how to do that ?

thanks in advance !

When Sync is set up on a device, the Set Up Sync ... menu item changes to Sync Now, as shown in your screenshot.

Yes, I would advise not using Xmarks with Sync also being setup. We have had a good number of reports of conflicts when both are activated at the same time; mostly data loss from Sync and Firefox across multiple devices.

Extensions such as Xmarks can be disabled or uninstalled through the Addon Manager. {Ctrl + Shift + A}

Sync has been built into Firefox since Firefox 4.0 was released over 2 1/2 years ago.

Thank you.... I am trying to enable firefox synch on my main desktop...

Do I need to get rid of Xmarks first ?

Edmeister.... I guess my issue is that on the computer that I want to synch from ( my main desktop computer), I can't find the "Set up Sync" option from the menu and I also can't locate a plug in by searching for it.

So, I am wondering why I can't see the option to "Set Up Sync."

On my two older computers which I use less frequently, the "Set up Sync" option is available in firefox.

The screen shot below is from my Windows 7 PC, with version 26 of Firefox. This was the machine I first set up Xmarks on.... so perhaps I will first need to uninstall Xmarks?

Need to be gone for a few hours, but I will work on it more later.

thanks for any thoughts or feedback.... at this point, I will figure our how to uninstall Xmarks, then go from there.

Thanks for the help. I was able to remove xmarks, then re-pair my two other computers to my main desktop using the "pair a device" function.

thanks !
