Can I create a Shortcut to Unsorted Bookmarks, so that I don't need to open FF?
I think it takes about 5 to 10 seconds for FF to open, probably because of the Adblock Plus updating. That's fine, but . . .
I export all of my Bookmarks once a week, and put them in a spreadsheet for easier sorting.
I was wondering if it's possible to create a Shortcut directly to my Unsorted Bookmarks, so that I can get to them that way, and things will work faster.

Bookmarks and Browsing History: The places.sqlite file contains all your Firefox bookmarks and the list of all the websites you’ve visited.
I think this is the file: C: \ Users \ UserName \ AppData \ Roaming \ Mozilla \ Firefox \ Profiles \ places.sqlite
I set a Shortcut to places.sqlite, tried to open it with FF, and a small window opens up, asking if I want to to open the file with FF (if I say yes, and it just asks again), or to Save it (no).
So, this doesn't work. Any ideas? Thx!!

Nope, that's not what I'm asking about . . . but, it is the answer to a question that I have never gotten around to looking into. Thx! I have always used IE to make Shortcuts to web pages, because there was never any obvious way to do this in FF.

When you click on the button to "Display your bookmarks," I then click on "Unsorted Bookmarks," and it opens . . . I would like to be able to make a Shortcut directly to the Unsorted Bookmarks, or to "All Bookmarks" . . . either one . . . I'm just trying to be able to get to my Bookmarks, and bypass needing to opening up FF.
You can add this switch to a copy of the Firefox desktop shortcut to open the bookmarks panel:
- firefox.exe -chrome chrome://browser/content/bookmarks/bookmarksPanel.xul
I made this the Target:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -chrome chrome://browser/content/bookmarks/bookmarksPanel.xul
That does open it up, but it's a limited version of what you get when you open it through the browser. It starts in a small window, and you don't have the two panes, or menu across the top.
I tried dragging the "Display your bookmarks" button to my Desktop, but it won't go. This would be like dragging a URL to the Desktop, where you get a Shortcut to the web page.
To get the full Library you can use this chrome URL:

I'm not used to modifying these switches. I see you have to add a "-chrome" in there. This path got it to work, yes:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -chrome chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul
Clicking on that Shortcut, it took: 14 seconds, and I'm open to "All Bookmarks" . . . that's good, but . . .
If I click to open the Firefox browser, it takes: 14 seconds . . . so the above Shortcut provides no real benefit, because then I do . . . two clicks (Display your bookmarks / Unsorted Bookmarks), and I'm where I actually want to be, in another 2 seconds (these two clicks go fast)
It seems like this path: -chrome chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul . . . must be opening Firefox, in hidden mode, or silently . . . does Firefox have to be open in some form, and there's no way to quickly just open the Bookmarks?

also . . . why does it say "chrome?" I don't see that Firefox is a modified version of Chromium, so what's up with that?
also . . . I think auto-formatting of messages should be turned off, by default. It takes away my line breaks, and adds bullets where there should be none.

chrome://browser/content/places/places.xul will open in Firefox. You need some type of interface or program to view the places.sqlite file, where Firefox bookmarks are stored.

I just did a Restart of Firefox with all Add-ons disabled.
I then tried opening FF. It took 14 seconds.
I then tried using the Shortcut that goes directly to the Bookmarks - and it took 14 seconds.
So, I guess Adblock Plus isn't slowing down FF opening, that's just how long it takes.
Bookmarks come up really fast, when opened from within FF - and now I know why, because that's the program designed to view them.
I use Notepad++ a lot, and Notepad. I guess I was thinking of the Bookmarks as not being much different than a text file.
You may have a problem with your security software if it takes that long to start Firefox even with opening no internet pages or the built-in about:home page.
Does it has any effect if you bot the computer in Windows Safe Mode?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that has effect.
