Today's update makes my Firefox stop working

I got my usual updater today for the newest Firefox version (28?). After install the new browser simply doesn't work -- it can't connect to the network. It has to be a browser problem because I can get to the network using Chrome and IE. I tried re-downloading and installing the latest version with the same problem. I can't figure out how to revert to the last update standard. Help

hello, normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions: Fix problems connecting to websites after updating Firefox

Thanks, but it didn't work. I added Mozilla to the Windows Firewall. How do I add it to Norton?

try to clear all program rules for firefox in your norton software and let it detect the new version again (unfortunately i don't use norton myself, so i cannot give any detailed instructions).

Tjhanks for trying but that didnt' work either. I even have uninstalled and reinstalled completely with no luck. This is frustrating since a) all my bookmarks and research are in Firefox; and b) I have no explanation for the problem. Any other ideas?
