Cannot access FF 28.0 from dock or finder
If I close the Firefox window and then try to get back by clicking on the dock icon I get error message:" Server not found. Firefox can't find the server at herot.com>." I can get to Firefox only through a link from someone (anyone)'s e-mail link to a web site. . Then FF 28.0 opens. Once open I can use the icon on the dock, but if I close the FF window I'm back where I was. This is after years of success with Firefox.
I'm using a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.7.5. Latest update was 3/30/14. About Firefox says I have the latest update. Thunderbird is OK. All else is OK.
I am reluctant to reset as I am worried that I will lose it totally.

Hi LHEROT, Is your homepage herot.com? Can you please provide a screenshot of the error message? Is it on the webpage or in an event box?
If the server cannot be found and it is indeed your homepage:
- Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet
- Websites don't load - troubleshoot and fix error messages
- Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can

I can't even access herot.com myself. The site is completely down.
If Firefox doesn't open, you can use the Safe Mode option to see if one of your extensions is causing Firefox to fail starting up
- Windows: Hold the SHIFT key while double clicking the Firefox icon on your Desktop
- OS X: Hold the OPTION key while clicking the Firefox icon in your Dock or Applications folder
- Linux: Run the following command in the Terminal (CTRL + ALT + T) firefox -safe-mode
If Firefox opens up, then it's most likely one of your extensions misbehaving. You can enable your add-ons back on by one until you find the conflicting extension.

Duh. Alll is well now. I returned to my original home page and am back to normal. Don't know how it changed to my server, but it did. If anyone else has this problem try this: Go to Firefox if you can. Open a page you want to use as your home page. Then click on Firefox--preferences-general-show my home page-use current page. No thing to it!
