How can I find out the folder than an email is in
Hi,
It does not seem to be intuitive for me to do the following :-
I search for emails from a certain person. The 'finds' are displayed in the results pane - but there is no way I can tell where the emails are in my mail folders.
This feature needs improvement, because it is not obvious at all how to find the email's location that search results refer to.

Complaints similar to yours have been voiced for years, e.g.:

so, in the meantime, workarounds such as the one I suggested may be the best option.

Here is one way: right-click a folder, Search Messages, or Edit/Find/Search Messages. Select the 'Search for messages in' and set the criteria. When the results appear in the lower pane, select a message and click 'Open in folder' and the message will open in the Message Pane and the containing folder will be selected in the Folder Pane (folder list).
You can also enable the Location column in the Search window, but this just shows the folder name, not the full path.
Thanks, for your reply. I'm after a faster easier solution
I noticed search is not a search option when you right mouse click on inbox - what the?
Wouldn't it be nicer is search results using the search box on the top right of the "home screen" gave results that are formatted in a better way - to let me know the location of the e-mails found. After reading about Steve Jobs I imagine he'd have a fit using Thunderbird - its not as fast or easy as it could be.
When I use the box on the top right of the home screen, and get a new tab with results, the SUBJECT of each result becomes a button that can open the e-mail, which when clicked then displays a multi level tree of the "conversation" - nice - but where the hell are those emails!!! Where is the location information? At the least , why not add a right click option RIGHT HERE to "OPEN IN FOLDER" ?
