Trying to place my local folders directly in my mac os user directory as a mounted, encrypted drive, with the rest of Thunderbird under the Library subdirectory. Looking in this directory (mounted gocryptfs) shows the expected files.

When I first open Thunderbird, there's nothing in local folders. The account setting for local folders indicates /Users/me/Mail. Nothing showing in Local Folders. I select browse, and again choose /Users/me/Mail directory. Still nothing showing in Local Folders.

I close Thunderbird, then reopen Thunderbird. Local Folders now there and showing all expected files. So there's your work-around, but why isn't Thunderbird just opening Local Folders as expected ? Ownership and permissions on directories seem the same as on all my other accounts.

I'm using Thunderbird 128.3.3esr(g4 bit) on Windows 10. Sometimes (not always) an email arrives and I read it, but when I go back to look for it later, it isn't in the inbox, whether regular view or unified view. It still exists on the server (Gmail) and I can find it in search. This doesn't happen for every email, but it has happened more than once. There are no inbox filters that I know of. I've rebuilt the folder, same result.

I've looked through similar reports online but not found anything that helps. Though I doubt it's relevant, I'll add that initially, unified view was empty, so I renamed the "smart mailboxes" folder as suggested online, and then unified view showed correctly.

Suggestions?

I've been getting a random photo (the same one every time) attached to my emails in Thunderbird so I can't see the body of my emails. When I go to my gmail account I can see the email body and genuine attachments if there but not in Thunderbird because of the attached photo. Not sure if connected but I've noticed I'm missing emails too - both received and sent. My emails come in to work email address connected via my gmail account to Thunderbird. I've had this set up for years as I prefer the Thunderbird interface to gmail's but this problem started a couple of months ago. Screen shot attached showing the email with random image attached, note it removes the email sender details too but this still came up in the search. Can anyone help? Thanks

I had Tbird running very well on my new MacBook a two months, I have it set to work perfectly with my outlook.com email account for emails, contacts and calendar. I have Tbsync and Provider for exchange add ons. In fact the whole set up was much easier on the Mac than on my old Win10 laptop. I also have BT, Gmail and iCloud email folders set up as well. As state the whole system was working perfectly, calendar events etc all synced and updated my Outlook.com account and also my iPhone. I was extremely pleased with how it was working.

Problem. I switch off my Mac last night as usual. Started up this morning and opened Tbird. Latest emails were duly received from all accounts including my Outlook.com.

However when I went to add a new event I noticed there were no calendars, none! Yesterday there were F1, holidays, personal. I then noticed that my address book was also gone, no contacts, nothing. Just a blank calendar and the empty Tbird default address book. No menu options for getting Outlook contacts or calendar re-set up exist. I feel rather annoyed, is putting it mildly!

Fortunately the data is still there in my Outlook.com account. So not 100% angry.

Despite the fact that I am downloading emails from Outlook.com, plus sending replies and new ones, something has gone missing. I must therefore assume that TBsync 4.11 or Provider for Exchange ActiveSync 4.12 has decided to go on vacation.

Tbird is version 128.3.3esr (64-bit) No updates have been requested or installed for months. It just simply was working well and then decided not too!

Any ideas for a fix? Or do I remove everything and start a fresh setup

I have latest version (64 bit) of Thunderbird (automatic updates) on a Windows 10 machine.

A little while ago, I found that many of my messages in my Inbox from earlier this month were showing Gobbledygook. Also the number of messages were only about a quarter of what should be in the Inbox. So I clicked on Properties of the Inbox - the number of messages that were shown in the Repair Window was about right so I clicked on "Repair folder". The repair process seems to have deleted all of the other messages and left my Inbox with just a quarter of what should be there. None of the missing messages are in the Deleted box or the Archives.

So does anyone have a way of getting these deleted messages back?

If not, I do a regular back-up of my Thunderbird profile. How can I go about getting just my Inbox back from the backup. I have years of Archives in my set-up (20GB+). And I am afraid that given what has happened today, I might lose those as well if I restore my whole profile. Ideally, I would like to restore just my back-up Inbox to a second Inbox (Inbox-1) and then just migrate across the missing messages. What files should I copy across from my backup?

The reason I have put urgent in the subject line is that I am in hte middle of some complex issues that require the exchange of a lot of emails and I need to look back at emails that are now missing.

Recently upgraded Thunderbird from v91.13.1_win64 to Nebula v128... current install is 128.3.3esr (64-bit)

Everything upgraded just fine except for my local calendars. From Thunderbird, if I click on the Calendar tab, the calendar month shows up in the tab, but it is blank... Then Thunderbird stops responding & never recovers.

The *.sqlite files seem to be available in the calendar-data directory.

Any thoughts on how to get my local calendars back ??? thx...

OK, suddenly I cannot log into Thunderbird with my email password. Luckily I also have a Google Business account with that same email address, which DID allow me to log in with the same password Thunderbird is disallowing.

I have been logging into both Thunderbird and Google Mail for months now with no problem, but this cropped up tonight.

Is this something that has happened tonight to Thunderbird and its relationship to IMAP servers?

And, yes, sure I can get into my email through Google Mail, but I prefer going to it via an offline client when possible.
