Thunderbird often stops 'responding' after a spell check. When I choose wait, it usually does not self correct. What can I do to remedy this? Win7 pro, patch 1

Mozilla Thunderbird often, but not always, stops working during a spell check. It seems more frequent if the spell check is automatic when I hit send, but it happens when I click spell check or even click the underlined miss spelled word. The system will generally not recover when I choose 'wait for the system to respond'. Any advice? Win 7 Pro, service patch 1, automatic windows updates. Norton Security Suite.

disable email scanning in Nortons and see if the issue remains. I doubt it will.

Thanks Matt, I'll need to figure out how to disable the email scan. Do you think the Norton is causing the issue even when I click a word for an individual spell check/correction?

I disabled out going scans and sent a number of messages with out problem. Norton re-engaged the out bound scan, and still no problem. I'm not sure if this was the issue. It is hard to tell with intermittent issues. Any other suggestions?
