The control icons disappear when viewing the https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/ (!) page after updating to FX 32.0.1.

If I scroll to the bottom of this page, then scroll back to the top, just prior to reaching the top of the page, all of my control icons in FX disappear. They're still they're, and work, but appear as grey-on-grey so are rendered invsible. The tool tips, etc, all work fine

e.g. - Back button shows as an empty grey circle - RHS of tabs doesn't show close "x" - Open Menu doesn't show up.

It makes using the browser a bit hit and miss!

Closing the browser and reopening it makes the problem go away, but if re-view the above page and scroll down and up again, and it recurs.

I have screenshots, if required ...

TBH, the problem may have existed on FX 32.0, as I hadn't performed the scroll-down and back on this particular page

Same problem appears to be present for 32.0.2 update too, as browsing the same page as before from top to bottom to top resulted in lost icons again.

You're lucky. This is what mine looks like!

The icons at the top are open tabs. The borders (and the close 'X') have disappeared. And so have the menu bar, title bar and bookmarks bar. What have we done to deserve this?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

A "hecler's comment" (= not OP): In my screenshot it can be seen that there is no such extensions. Also for me (and as I undestand, for OP too) there is no reinstalling nor change of such settings.

Also sorry, my "What have we done to deserve this?" came out of frustration, since Firefox has not been the only SW with similar "suddenly doesn't work" or "suddenly works strangely" issues. I've bumped into four of then within the (about) last 7 days. Wrestled with them about half a day to whole day each.
