I've installed firefox and the bookmarks doesn't work
I've installed, un-installed, and re-installed firefox. Bookmarks will not work. I've clicked the star - and nothing. I've tried to use the menu bar to bookmark a page and - nothing. I've checked the sqllite file and it is not marked as read only.
What else can i do to be able to get bookmarks working?

Hello,
It may already have been bookmarked - check your Unsorted Bookmarks:
- Bookmarks (or ) > Unsorted Bookmarks
Pages that are bookmarked and not placed into any folder go to the Unsorted Bookmarks for you to organize at a later date. See Bookmarks in Firefox.
if the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder is not set as read-only, you can install the Places Maintenance extension to run maintenance on the file. Please read the following articles first as they provide helpful hints and instructions that may be relevant to you:

Thanks CoryMH - but that isn't the problem either. Nothing in bookmarks is working - I can't import, I can't create new bookmarks. When I open "show all bookmarks", nothing is there - nothing is in the unsorted file either.
They just completely don't work - neither importing, nor creating new.
Have you tried the Places Maintenance add-on? It can usually correct errors if your places.sqlite file (which stores the bookmarks and browsing history) becomes corrupt.
I just added it, and ran it. Here is the result:
> Integrity check - The database is corrupt > Reindex - Unable to reindex database > Integrity check - The database is corrupt - Unable to fix corruption, database will be replaced on next startup
I guess I'll try to shut down my computer and restart everything to see if it works. thanks for the suggestion...I'll let you know how the restart goes.
Since its corrupt and you don't have any bookmarks, try deleting the places.sqlite file in your profile folder. Firefox should detect that it is missing and create a new one.
Edit: Sorry, looks like the Places Maintenance extension might have already done that for you. Hopefully you'll be able to add new bookmarks when you start Firefox again.

CoryMH - restarting the computer actually allowed it to rebuild the database that Places Maintenance said was corrupt. Firefox bookmarks seem to be working like a charm now.
Thanks for the great advice!!!
