have to refresh page to get new mail

more options

About a week ago I started having the problem of having to refresh the page to be able to get new mail. I have never had to do this before. I can move from my inbox to drafts to sent mail fine, but I have to refresh the entire page for anything new to show up. Also, when I send mail, it also saves to my drafts folder. Because it does this, I have no idea whether the mail has been sent until I go to my sent folder and find it there. I have no idea how to fix this. I am computer speak illiterate, and just want to get my mail the way I used to. I opened google chrome and it works fine, so this has to be a mozilla issue. How do I fix it with out going through a million steps that I have no idea how to interpret. Completely aggravated.

It sounds as though your mail site is losing its connection and behaving as though you are offline.

Is the site having the problem Yahoo mail?

Have you noticed any other changes in Firefox during this same time frame?

More generally:

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
