I installed Firefox and followed the instructions for importing favorites from IE 11. At first I only got half of them. After a lot of messing around I now have this: Still have half directly under Bookmarks. But at the top and bottom of the Bookmarks folder, there is a folder that says "From Internet Explorer" which are complete. Anyone know how to clean up this mess so everything is in the Bookmarks folder?

Open the Bookmarks Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>) <Shift> A)

From here, just like in a file browser, you can select files or folders and move them where you want them. Before doing so, open the whole directory tree where you are working.

If there are problems with importing the IE Favorites in Firefox then export the favorites in IE to an HTML file and import that file in the Firefox Bookmarks Manager.

If you do not have the menu bar in IE then right-click the toolbar at the top to enable the Menu Bar.

  • Export the favorites in IE to an HTML file (bookmarks.html):
    File > Import and Export
  • Import the HTML file in Firefox:
Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Bookmarks from HTML

See "Import from another browser" and "Import from file":
