There is a bug in version 36 that won't let right-click conext menu work in the search bar.
It is near impossible to use right-click and select "paste" or "paste and search" in the search bar in Firefox 36. What happens is a pop-up obscures the context menu, asking if I want add or change my search engines. I have downgraded to the last version of release 35 and I now have a usable right-click context menu. Please fix this bug in version 36.

You should get that other menu if you left-click in the search bar and only the context menu if you right-click.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
That is what is supoposed to happen, but it doesn't work properly. If I have copied text to the clipboard, I should be able to right-click and paste it (selecting "paste" in the context menu) into the the search box in the top right-hand corner of the browser window. I can't do that in Firefox 36, because a dialogue box obscures the context menu. It is perplexing that such an annoying fault could escape quality control. Your solution doesn't work. . I will be sticking with Firefox 35 and for the moment I have disabled updating. Next month I will check back and see if you have fixed the bug in the newer version of firefox.

Does this happen when you click anywhere on the search box? Try the far side away from the search icon.
It made no difference where I right-clicked. I have given up on version 36 and now use 35. I won't d/l and install 36 just to check: it is a waste of my ADSL bandwidth. . It is a bug in version 36.
