Is my Trash or Inbox corrupted? Or both? Inbox is duplicating messages and I can't trash them. (Thunderbird 2.0 on G4)

I have a very old Mac G4 and the only TBird it will support is 2.0. (I'm running system 10.3.9 from the dark ages.) Everything was fine until yesterday when I tried to delete about 1000 emails and suddenly the Inbox started duplicating emails. It is up to 10000. Two accounts run on that computer. One has 10000 extras and the Trash doesn't seem to work, and the other has 1500 duplicates and the trash does work, but when TBird is open, the other account keeps duplicating messages and clogging up my hard drive. I have run Disk Warrior twice and the Disk Utility twice.

Anybody remember how to run 2.0? I can't upgrade to 31 as somebody suggested. It won't run on my G4.
