I have Windows XP on this PC. I am converting everything over to a new Windows 7 PC. When I set up my Thunderbird email it asks for a password. I gave it the best one I could remember. There did not seem to be an option to help me reset password, so I may be using the wrong password. How do I get my new PC to recognize my old Thunderbird email address?

Can I ask a second question? If not please disregard this part. I have Ubuntu 14.04LTS on my laptop. I also use Thunderbird there, but when I replaced the harddrive, I tried to keep the gmail address. It would not work for PGP encryption. I tried setting a new account, but somehow it remained linked to the first gmail address, so PGP no longer works on my laptop. Even my geek friends are stumped on this one.

You don't have a Thunderbird email address. You have an email address issued by an email provider. Your password is administered with that provider. Work with them to reset a forgotten password.
