How can I disable all file downloading in Firefox?

Is there a way to disallow downloading files in Firefox?

I know there is an add-on called PublicFox that can do this, but with their recent addition and prompting to install AdBeaver, PublicFox is not even an option that I can consider.

I'm hoping there is some other way to simply disable any downloading, or maybe I can somehow use a custom blocklist to achieve the same thing?

Thanks you.

Maybe run Firefox in a sandbox environment that doesn't allow to download and store files on the hard drive.

I was hoping for a direct method within firefox, but your idea of using the sandbox isn't bad ... it might just be what I end up doing.
