Hi Markfort, This is just a shot in the dark, but are you by any chance forwarding the email as an attachment rather than inline?

If not, what happens when you forward it as an attachment. Is the message body still missing?

Hi Norio, Have tried both. Including shut down restart. It seems to occur recently with emails that have a colour graphic 'block' / corporate logo device. And you cannot delete that before you hit 'Forward' as it deletes the message. mark

Hi Mark, This is another shot in the dark, but did you upgrade to the latest version, 38.1.0? My copy of Thunderbird was acting oddly after that update, and I was able to get version 38.1.0 to revert normal behavior by closing Thunderbird, starting it up in safe mode, and then closing it and starting it up in regular mode.

Even if you haven't updated to 38.1.0, give this procedure a try--it doesn't modify anything and is relatively easy to do. I am on Windows and the way I start Thunderbird in Safe Mode is to shift-click the Thunderbird icon. A dialogue box will pop up asking if you want to make any permanent changes. Leave the check boxes BLANK and click on the "Continue in Safe Mode" button. This will temporarily disable your extensions and any customizations. Then close it and start up normally.

Hope this helps, Norio
