After updating to Thunderbird 38.1.0 my Windows 7 locks up after fetching new messages. I went back to ver 31.7.0 and no hang-ups. What's up with ver 38.1.0?

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. I also use McAfee Security for virus scan and firewall. Thunderbird 38.1.0 still locks up with McAfee disabled. No lock up if there are no new messages. 38.1.0 shows no problems in safe mode. Reverting back to Thunderbird 31.7.0 eliminates the problem - everything runs fine. Seems pretty conclusive that the problem lies with Thunderbird 38.1.0. Others have reported this problem, but no solutions are offered. Is anyone working this issue?

What is wrong is your using McAfee. see this https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Testing:Antivirus_Related_Performance_Issues#McAfee

It feel like years since they released a version of their software that actually did not mess up something in Thunderbird.
