using windows 8.1, in firefox I go to adobe.com to download flashplayer, I get as far as the adobe download manager and it sits there empty, what should be an easy download doesnt work, any ideas, thanks

Try downloading Flash from this page. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html Make sure that you get the Plugin-based browsers version.
