Using Linux Mint 17.0 Cinnamon

Sometime around Thunderbird 38 update, desktop mail alerts from Thunderbird don't appear. About this same time, I installed Lighting extention. Not sure if there is a correlation. Possibly just a coincidence. I de-installed Lightning. No change.

Hoping others have reported this as well and that there will be a patch soon.

Thanks

Works for me in LMDE. But I'm using Mate. And I'm using Lightning.

I have used the gnome integration add-on and haven't seen much difference with or without it. Is there anything similar available to you?

The point is something is broken after TB 38.2 update. Prior to the update, things were fine. I'm not sure if Lightning has any realtion to the issue. Maybe. Maybe the Messaging Menu extenstion in TB?

There is a thread over at the Linux Mint Forums that is active on this issue.

There have been several people asking about this issue on the Mint Forum and Mint-Help IRC channel.

Thanks for the response just the same. Hopefully this will get patched up.

Zenos, since you are NOT having issues with LMDE, I suspect it is a bug that effects only the Ubuntu-based systems.

One person over at the Linux Mint Forum (link in previous post) reported that the official Mozilla release of TB 38.2 does not seem to exhibit this behavior. But for some reason, the version in the Ubuntu repository does.

My hope is that the various parties are communicating to each other so that this can be resolved.

Anyone that has any information on this bug, please keep us informed!

I have been facing this problem since the last update of TB 38.2. I have tried reinstalling, starting it with disabled add-ons,

some configuration tweaks like mail.bliff.show_alert is true condstore is false

Please somebody do something.
