Is there a way to set new tabs to open to a specific page (not when opening a new tab from a link)?

I understand that links will open in new tabs, but when I choose to just open a new tab with the little '+' I want it to open to a specific page, not the thumbnail thingy that happens now. Is this possible?

With Firefox 41 - to be released later today - you'll need an extension for that feature. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Unfortunately, this no longer seems to be working. It's really inconvenient to have the new tab not open to the page I use most often. Is there a different/new fix?

Hi, New Tab Override has just been updated to v2.2, so make sure it's up to date and it should now work in v43 - (Ctrl+Shift+A > Extensions).

You seem to be using Firefox 40 which should be updated to 43.0.1 (Open the 3-bar menu > Help (question mark at bottom right) > About Firefox).
