How do re-link all my archives, lists, and so on after a system reboot?

I did a full back up of everything on my laptop to an external hard drive because I needed to do a system re-store and re-boot. When I added everything back from the external hard drive, my mozilla thunderbird account re-appeared, but all my contacts, years of archives and everything were gone. Is there anyway to retrieve it? and if so how? Please help.

John

re: I did a full back up of everything on my laptop to an external hard drive

First, can you to check that you really did backup the correct folder. Make hidden files and folders visible:

Access the backup. Assuming you did not move the profile folder to a different location, it should be located here:

  • C:\Users\Windows user name\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\Profile name\

the 'Profile name' will be xxxxxxxx.default, where the x's are letters and numbers. Do you have this folder in your backup?

confirm: is this a pop or imap mail account?
