remove search provider
hi, I'm using ff 41 for android, and if I use the URL bar to search I cannot see the keyboard auto completion.
where the completion is is replaced by icons of various search providers instead, eg Google, duck duck go, Amazon and whatnot.
I'd like to be able to use predictive text in this case. is there some way to hide the search providers?

I understand that you would like to remove the search providers that are listed at the top of the keyboard when you search from the url.
I went into the Android Settings to make sure that keyboard suggestions were turned on as well as this setting in Firefox did not show suggestions. (However I do not think that this is necessary)
Do you have a different keyboard or a different setting that could be affecting seeing the autocomplete?
The image i see is the one you posted on the left (without the "Show site suggestions"). In no case do I see your middle image, where the autocomplete suggestions are visible - this behaviour, as far as I remember is the default in firefox. I am unaware what settings could affect this.
In Settings->Customize->Home I have (as you show) "show site suggestions" is not set. "Show correction suggestions" in "text correction" is set, and works in all other applications.
I'm using FF installed from the APK, and am running cyanogen (not mod), Android 5.1.1.
Ideally I would not see the icons at all, as they are easy to hit accidentally, and take up space for no purpose. But I would be happier with your middle image than the left one.
P.S: Autcomplete works fine in text fields, just not in the URL bar P.P.S : removing all the search providers still doesn't show the autocomplete bar. Its simply not there when inputting in the URL field
