Firefox not displaying page formatting and not playing videos
HI, I've been having this problem with Firefox for the last two days. It does not display context and formatting of websites like Reddit, Mozilla, and sometimes YouTube. It has said many times that websites like youtube have an untrusted connection, and shockwave flash crashes. I tried uninstalling , cleaning, and reinstalling Firefox, I tried repairing it also.. I updated java, Flash, and shockwave. Did a complete scan of my computer with my Antivirus and Malwarebytes.
None of these problems are on Chrome or Edge.

If you have problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions then check this:
- see if there are updates for your graphics drive drivers
https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
- disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)

If you get an untrusted connection error and make an exception for the site, the page often appears unstyled because the exception doesn't cover the various other servers the site uses. So that's not unusual.
You should never need to make exceptions for mainstream sites. When you get this secure connection errors for pretty much all secure sites, the problem usually is one of the following:
(1) Error in your system's date, time, or time zone, which throws off certificate validity checks. Sometimes allowing computers to use an internet-based time source can introduce this problem.
(2) Firefox not being set up to work with your security software that intercepts and filters secure connections. Products with this feature include Avast, BitDefender, ESET, and Kaspersky; AVG has a Search Shield feature which can cause this error on search sites.
(3) On Windows 10, Firefox not being set up to work with the parental control software Microsoft Family Safety. (To test by turning it off, see: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/wi.../turn-off-microsoft-family-settings)
(4) Malware on your system intercepting secure connections.
So... which is it?
If you have any of those specific security products, that would be the first thing to check. We might be able to assist with specific next steps based on what you have if you tell us.
To gather further information, you could check the certificates for sites where you added an exception to see whether there is a pattern to the "Issued by" information which points to a specific culprit. Here's how:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
In the left column, click Advanced. Then on the right side, click the Certificates mini-tab along the top. Then click the "View Certificates" button.
This should open the Certificate Manager. Click the "Servers" tab. Ignore the ones for "*" and check for any servers you remember adding an exception for. You can select some of those and click View to check the "Issued by" information.
Any pattern?
Ive checked the date and time, everything correct. I do have ESET, But it hasn't been a problem, I tried disabling its security and firewall, and that didn't change anything. I don't have Family Safety turned on or set up. the certifications don't have anything in common. I updated Graphics drivers, disabled protection mode in flash, and disabled hardware acceleration :/
There is security software like Avast and Kaspersky and BitDefender and ESET that intercept secure connections and send their own certificate.
Open the "Add Security Exception" window by pasting this chrome URL in the Firefox location/address bar and check the certificate:
- chrome://pippki/content/exceptionDialog.xul
In the location field of this window type or paste the URL of the website.
- retrieve the certificate via the "Get certificate" button
- click the "View..." button to inspect the certificate in the Certificate Viewer
You can inspect details like the issuer and the certificate chain in the Details tab of the Certificate Viewer. Check who is the issuer of the certificate. If necessary then you can attach a screenshot that shows the certificate viewer.
Eset smart Security 9:
Path: Advanced Setup -- Web and Email --- SSL/TLS Root certificate then uncheck "Add the root certificate to know browsers" SSL protocol: Do not scan SSL protocol
Thank you so much! Disabling SSL protocol scanning fixed the problems of pages not loading correctly. But I'm still having problems where Shockwave crashes all the time. Any ideas?
Post any new crash report numbers.
