Could you check the following settings?

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and press Enter
  2. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!"
  3. In the search field type permissions.default.image
  4. Make sure permissions.default.image's value is set to 1

Hello Gert! Thank you so much for your direct reply!! Before doing so (as you describe) , I have tried to search for "about:config" and I found this link: http://kb.mozillazine.org/About:config So my next question Gert is: will it be better to type "about:config" and follow the instructions, or it is better not to type "about:config " in terms of safety?

Hello,

As long as you don't change any settings, you can do no harm. If you do change something in about:config, that might cause problems. For now, I'm just asking to check a setting, not to make any changes, so there should be no risk.

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains. You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images

  • Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.

Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and Anti-Virus software that can block images and other content.
