When I click "Bookmarks" at the top of the browser I want to see my book marks in the drop down menu, just like I used to. How?

I just want the simple way of bookmarking and seeing my saved bookmarks back. First I had to figure out how to even get the bookmarks command at the top of the browser, and now when I click it, the bookmarks aren't listed. How do I make it the way it was? Also, for the love of God, would the people who keep changing things knock it the F#@% off? Continually changing things that work is NOT an improvement. I want it to work exactly the way it did before. When I click on "Bookmarks" I want to see a list of my bookmarks in the drop down menu. I don't want to have to go on a hunt. And when I create a bookmark, I want it to automatically populate that drop down menu, just like it always did before. Quit making improvments that create hassle and cost me time figuring out all these pointless changes.

There haven't been any changes to the way bookmarks work.

Are you using the bookmarks drop-down list via the Bookmarks menu on the Menu bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)?

You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar

Note that you can also click the "Show your bookmarks" button next to the star on the Navigation Toolbar to access the bookmarks in a drop-down list. If you want to see the bookmarks in the unsorted folder then you can consider to open the bookmarks in the sidebar. If you click the star once to bookmark the current tab then this bookmark is created in the unsorted folder and you can click the blue highlighted star another time to change the location of the bookmark.

If the bookmarks are in the Bookmarks Menu folder then you should see them in the drop-down list.

Did you recently update to Windows 10 on this computer? If so, your Firefox data might not have been migrated correctly.

If that is the scenario:

First, please turn on viewing of hidden files and folders: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hidden-files

Next, can you scout for folders in these locations to see what is available for restoration:

  • C:\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    • How many profile folders do you find? If there is only one folder, it's likely your current one that doesn't have your data.
  • C:\Windows.old\Users\your-user-name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    • How many profile folders do you find? If there are folders here, one of them most likely has your latest pre-upgrade settings.
