Get message thattThe page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.
Message I get is labeled "Content Encoding Error". I get this error frequently (in last 3-4 weeks only) when I do a Google search and click on a link. These are common sites I have been able to view in the past.
Attached is screen shot of message that I get.

You can check the network.http.accept-encoding pref on the about:config page.
You can reset user set (bold) pref(s) on the about:config page via the right-click context menu to the default value.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.
I was able to get to the "about:config page" and the "I'll be careful", but then the choices of what to do next were beyond my technical expertise.
Are you able to locate the network.http.accept-encoding pref on that page?
What is the current value of the pref?
Can you attach a screenshot?

That looks OK.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
