Firefox 46.0.1 is very slow loading pages. YouTube videos also take a while to load then keep buffering. Twitter won't log-in until I click log-in button a number of times. Some web sites seem OK but most struggle. I have Refreshed Firefox and also started in Safe Mode. My internet is fast. I have updated graphics driver. I considered going back to Firefox 45 and decided to download it. Firefox told me it would take 3 hours and I let it download for half hour. Then I downloaded it in Internet Explorer and it took one minute. My OS is Windows 10 64-bit. This slowness seems common judging by community posts. If this can't be fixed I will have to go through the hassle of installing version 45.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Click the menu button New Fx Menu, choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

That doesn't work. I have done everything advised and everything is really slow. Internet Explorer has no problem with any sites. I actually downloaded Apple iCloud but it wouldn't install. So I downloaded it using Internet Explorer and it installed perfectly. There is definitely a major problem with Firefox 46.0.1. I will wait one more day then install version 45.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
See Creating a profile:

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

I created new profile and deleted old one and also deleted files. Firefox started as normal and everything was in it. Such as Bookmarks, passwords, add-ons etc. Most web sites load good, some are slow. Biggest problem is YouTube videos keep stalling. YouTube works fine in Internet Explorer. When web sites load a circle is spinning as if it hasn't finished, so I click cross and it stops. Videos work OK on all web sites except YouTube.

YouTube worked fine in older versions of Firefox. But not version 46.0.1. I followed advice and installed add-on YouTube Flash Video Player. Then tried video in YouTube. A message came up saying your browser does not recognize any of the video formats.

Today I was ready to remove Firefox entirely, including cleaning it from registry, then reinstalling it. But when I started Firefox it was working perfectly. I don't know what happened. Can't blame network because Internet Explorer worked fine.

It could have been a corrupt file that was overwritten.
