Hi

Thunderbird 45.1.0 Windows 10 Home

Recent when I create a message and hit Enter (Return) I have started getting two blank lines as if its issuing a LF CR. Best described as "new paragraph" instead of "new line"

Not sure when this happened and SHIFT-ENTER gets me to the start of a new line without the extra blank line, so I have a work around.

Anyway I can get the Enter key to do the same.

Thanks Geoff

It's trying to emulate the additional spacing between paragraphs that you find in most word processors. In a word processor, <return> generally does mean "new paragraph" and not "new line".

There is a switch that lets you revert to the previous behaviour.

Tools|Options|Composition|General→HTML→"When using paragraph format…"

P.S. Both you and I have used such "double spacing" in our postings here. Why do people object to this in email?
