I am doing something online and it suddenly shifts to an ad in a whole new website.

I have the Cubs game going on MLB gameday. At least 5 times in the last few minutes the whole website has shifted to a Windows 20 driver ad or an ad for something else or a survey for my ISP without my touching anything. I have to hit the back arrow to go back to the game. This has been happening lately in other contexts. Any way to prevent being hijacked?

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
