Firefox crashes

Hi Firefox still crashing often after i fixed acceleration and reset firefox. Also I don't see the latest crashes (last 8 days ) in about:crashes Finally when I crash I can see that an app is running on the window that appears when I click restart or shut down but when i click on it to see what it is - windows 10 - it won't open and the system shuts down. I am wondering what's going on. Got malwarebytes and ran a computer windows check (forgot what it's called corrupted files)

Sorry to hear about the crashes. Some initial thoughts:

(1) Have you noticed any pattern to certain sites or types of content loading when Firefox crashes?

(2) Are you are getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter form, or the Windows crash dialog? The Windows dialog usually has some general options like close program, close and restart, while the Mozilla Crash Reporter is a space to explain what was happening at the time of the crash.

(3) Could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? That temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features of Firefox that might make it more prone to crashing on some systems.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any less crashy?
